Barcelona’s interest in Nigeria international Ademola Lookman has intensified following endorsement from new head coach Hansi Flick, who reportedly sees the Atalanta forward as a realistic and cost-effective reinforcement for the club’s attack, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to reports from Catalunya Ràdio, Flick has suggested Lookman to the Barcelona hierarchy as a viable alternative to the club’s top target, Liverpool’s Luis Díaz.

The German tactician is said to be impressed with Lookman’s dynamism and goal contribution and believes the Atalanta star could offer immediate impact at a considerably lower cost.

“Ademola Lookman’s name has been strongly mentioned in various media outlets as a possible signing for Barça. Hansi Flick has suggested the addition of the Atalanta BC star as an attractive and economically viable option to strengthen the winger position,” the Catalunya Ràdio report stated.

Lookman tallied 15 Serie A goals and 5 assists after a previous season he had cemented his reputation with a headline-grabbing Europa League final hat-trick that clinched the club’s first ever European trophy. His standout performances have not only attracted attention from La Liga champions Barcelona but also from several Premier League sides.

Reports from Italy have valued Lookman at €50m, but sources in Catalonia believe a deal could be struck for as little as €30m, a fee seen as a bargain given the 27-year-old’s recent form and experience at the top level.

Barcelona have reportedly held initial talks with Lookman’s representatives, though discussions have not yet advanced. The situation is expected to develop in the coming weeks, especially if Liverpool remain firm on Díaz or refuse to lower their asking price.
