The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested six suspected Internet fraudsters in Uyo, the Akwa State capital.
This development was announced via its official X on Saturday.
The anti-graft agency stated that four suspects were apprehended in Ekamba, while two others were caught in the Ekpri Nsukara area of Akwa Ibom during an intelligence-driven operation.
The statement reads, “Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Uyo Zonal Directorate, have arrested six suspected Internet fraudsters at the Ekamba and Ekpri Nsukara areas of Nwaniba, in Akwa Ibom State.
“Four of the suspects were arrested at Ekamba Nsukara, while the other two were apprehended at Ekpri Nsukara.”
The agency also disclosed that various items were recovered from the suspects during the operation.
“The intelligence-driven arrest led to the recovery of the following items: eight mobile phones and two laptops.
